There can be no doubt about the popularity of trance and hard house in the Sydney scene, and keeping that in mind, this release from local producers should by rights be very popular. Comprised of tracks by Accession, H.P.S?, Xenobis, Vas and Strobed, it's a 12 track excursion into the harder genres; techno, hard house, and hard trance with some melodic interludes here and there. Accession's 'Big Bang Theory' starts off the CD, a dynamic progressive trance track that warms up to the no-muckin'-around techno of H.P.S?'s 'Quantum'. Next up is the malevolent hard house of 'This Is...' by Xenobis, Strobed's banging 'Count Up' then the more melodic 'Untold' by Vas, giving us a taste of each artist straight up. All tracks are mixed and flow from one to another without jarring; it's a fresh and varied soundscape, at times entrancing, at times assaulting. While a number of genres are represented, it'd be fair to say that if you like hard house or hard trance, Enigma's first release will definitely be hitting your buttons.
