Saturday night Progress@Gas saw the exciting launch of Enigma Records volume one. Enigma Records is a new independent record label, dedicated to promoting hardhouse, trance, techno, hardtrance, and progressive Australian artists. I hope that this is the first CD of many and I'm sure that the (approx) 1000 punters who showed up would agree. We certainly need more events where Aussie's get the chance to showcase their talent in the field of electronic music production.

The diverse crowd were treated to two very talented live act performances - Xenobis and Spinners Breed. They definitely provided everyone with an excellent insight into what the CD has to offer. Xenobis performed earlier in the night, with a slower progressive set including all 3 of his tracks on the CD, warming up the crowd for the harder sounds produced by Mark Dynamix and Amber Savage's sets. Spinners Breed then hit the stage in front of a crowd wanting more and more, and indeed he gave it to them. An energetic trance set included their track "Let the bass go" from the CD which is my fav, plus a few new ones to look out for. Visual stimulation from the projection screen at the rear was a nice bonus too. The crowded dance floor was a great indication that people were enjoying the music played by artists a lot of them had most likely never heard of, let alone ever seen before. As was the fact that people were diving on each other in order to grab their own free copy of the Enigma CD that was thrown out into the crowd at one point in the night. Out of the resident Progress DJ's Amber Savage, who I saw properly for the first time at Dance for a Green Turtle 3, did an extra special job. She is a DJ who shows the crowd, that like them, she is enjoying the tracks that are being played. DJ's getting involved in the music is something I definitely like to see. Yoshi also hit the decks for what was an awesome set, keeping the crowd at their peak, and bringing them home for the end of the night. A very nice addition to the Gas environment for the launch was the laser show. Set up at the side, it fanned across the main dance floor adding to the euphoric atmosphere of the night.

All in all, a great success, Bring on Enigma Records Volume 2!!

If you were there at the launch and want to hear more, or if you didn't make it and want to hear some of what you missed, you can buy your own copy of the volume one CD at selected record stores such as Fish Records, or online at www.enigmarecords.com.au.
