Sybil's ORbit has always been interested in music for as long as he can remember. He started out with the obligatory piano lessons, as a child, and gave that away for the guitar. He was introduced into the world of computers and sequencing back in the 80s and the "fog" lifted.
Born and raised in Sydney and now living in Canberra, Brett began work on the Sybil's ORbit project in the early 90s. "Sybil's ORbit" was chosen as the name partly because of the eclectic nature of the music produced under this project and partly because he thought it was silly enough to be "catchy" and show that he doesn't take himself too seriously.
Sybil's ORbit influences are continually changing. To list a few: Aphex Twin, Square Pusher, Nine Inch Nails, Filter, Fluke and some of Underworld's stuff. Brett was also heavily influenced by early "The the".
Sometimes dark and strange, sometimes frantic and uplifting, the Sybil's ORbit project sets out to prove that music can be fun as well as personal and cathartic. This is achieved through a rich mix of darkly haunting downbeat tunes as well as uplifting dance floor thumpers.
All good things must come to an end... or do they? - The Sybil's ORbit project will now be known as "Audio Irony". The focus of Audio Irony is on harsher, harder sounds.
